Univera Community Health to Offer Free Health Insurance Screenings Next Week

As part of national Cover the Uninsured Week (March 15 – March 19), Univera Community Health is offering free health insurance screenings for the uninsured who need help finding a health plan that is right for them.

Univera Community Health representatives will help people determine whether they are eligible for government-sponsored health insurance programs — such as Family Health Plus, Child Health Plus, Healthy NY and Medicaid Managed Care.

The Univera Community Health representatives, after evaluating individuals’ eligibility, can also help people complete the necessary paperwork. Appointments are not needed.

According to a recent report, more than 661,000 children and adults in upstate New York — or 10.9 percent of the population — were uninsured from 2005 to 2007.
